I don’t have a big review for this one, mostly because I had a hard time getting in this story. I admit, I’ve been dragging my feet on writing this review since I didn't know where to start with it.

The horror aspect was top-notch, this book has a lot of food-related gore that really made me squeamish. I also can really appreciate the author’s interesting take on colonialism. There’s also a bit of gender identity crisis that plays into this story as well.

For whatever reason I had a difficult time understanding what was happening in this book. I understood, in a general sense, what was going on but there is some flowery language that made it hard to follow at times. I often found myself laying this one down and struggling to remember where I left off.

If I had to describe it, I’d probably say a Babel/House of Hollow mash up with a LGBTQ spin. So if either of those books interested you, or if you enjoy food and body-related horror, I’d give this one a try.
