Told from the perspectives of several characters (including a cat!), The Last House of Needless Street is an onion of a book — in a good way.

I picked this one up not long after I finished my first Catriona Ward book, Looking Glass Sound, which I thoroughly loved. I’d heard about this book for ages but was dragging my feet on reading this. Looking back, I’m not really sure why.

This review is going to be brief - mainly because this is just one of those stories where the less you know, the better. This book follows Ted Bannerman (a recluse with a sordid history), his bible-reading cat, Olivia, and Dee, a sister who will stop at nothing to solve the disappearance of her sister. Truly, that’s all you should know going into it. From there, just enjoy peeling back the incredible layers that Ward has created!
