I picked this book up while browsing at a bookstore completely on a whim (lots of whims, these days!). It was the art, and the texture of the book that drew me in. Only later did it click who the author was - I’m familiar with Noah’s stand-up but not any of his books.

This book follows a little boy and his stuffed bear. Tired of the rules his mother has set for him, the boy decides to run away - into the uncut grass near his home. With his reluctant sidekick, the bear and boy embark on a humble but enlightening adventure.

This was such a charming little book. The story was simple and sweet, the perfect kind to read at night before bed. I think many children will be able to relate to the main character’s frustration, as well as the urge to rebel (though in such a cute way!).

The illustrations are what really made the book amazing. The art is whimsical, colorful and fun and really capture the emotion of the story well. Despite being 128 pages, I flew through this book in less than an hour.

If you’re looking for a book to read with your child and enjoy sweet storytelling and gorgeous illustrations, definitely give this a try.
